Legislation has been in place for a number of years to ensure employers take all practical steps to provide a safe workplace or environment which is covered by Health and Safety in Employment legislation and the Electricity Act. Electrical Standard AS/NZS 3760:2003 covers how to comply with the above legislation and recommends appliances – any electrical item that can be plugged into a power point – are inspected at regular intervals ranging from 6months to 5 years.
